Try One of Our Favorite Cafes on Your Next Break
It’s 3:00 in the afternoon; where are you? If you’re at your desk, struggling to make it through the final hours of the work day, then it might be time for a quick coffee break.
In a neighborhood like ours, that might be easier said than done! East Falls offers residents from The Overlook with so many wonderful options that choosing just one can be a challenge.
Luckily, we've gone through and chosen a few of our favorites to highlight for you! So whether you need to stop on your way to work for an extra caffeine boost, or stroll in one afternoon for tea and a snack, you can already have a tried and true destination in mind.
If you’re in the mood for something down-to-earth, yet earth-shatteringly delicious, we highly recommend giving Le Bus a try! Nothing is off-limits at this eclectic establishment, from classic brunch essentials like pancakes to off-the-cuff creations for dinner. You won’t find anyone cutting corners, even on the drink selection; Le Bus only serves Jones brand soda, made with cane sugar, alongside the standbys like coffee, tea, and freshly squeezed orange juice. You’ll find this rolling favorite locale on the corner of Ridge and Midvale Avenues, less than a half-mile away from our townhomes.
Trolley Car Cafe
If you really need a break, why not step back in time? The Trolley Car Cafe is a throwback to the 1950s, complete with an outdoor patio and ideal views of the Schuylkill River and the establishment's award-winning garden. The eco-friendly hotspot features all your favorite snacks and dishes, all of which are fit to bursting with flavor and the freshest ingredients around. The garden certainly does its part to supply local vegetables and fruits, which go straight from the ground to the kitchen every Saturday. And if you're looking for a way to give back to the neighborhood, Trolley Car hosts a number of community events and heads up the Trolley Car Teacher's Fund for public school grants and the Trolley Car Table Tennis Club – the city's only full-time, non-profit table tennis club.
The Corner Bakery might be able to lay claim to many corners in various cities, but we happen to think there’s something special about the one closest to our neighborhood. Located a little more than a mile from The Overlook community, this hotspot serves up nutritious options all day long. Between the morning favorites, the paninis, the bakery’s best, and a number of refreshing drinks, we know for a fact this cafe has what you need to keep on through the work day at a reasonable price.
Ready for that break now? Be sure to stay updated on all of our community features and tips so you can sample the very best in The Overlook’s area!
